Who Else Wants to Stitch up a Quilt in a Weekend - From Start to Finish?
And That Really Means From Fabric to Entire Quilt Ready to Use, Not Just the Quilt Top!

Yes, Making This Quilt is as Simple as Watching your TV or Computer. Even If You Have Never Made a Quilt Before…Guaranteed!

From: Penny Halgren
Date:

Dear Friend,

If you are one of the alive, wide-awake women who welcome the thrill and excitement of great daring and big adventure, and who believe that there is nothing better for tired brains and tired bodies than the healthy stimulation created by shocking your family with a completed quilt project, then you are in for a treat.

Especially if you have never even made a quilt before.

Or, maybe you are one of those quilters who has a bunch of quilt tops stashed away in your closet, waiting for just the right  - - backing - - quilting design idea - - borders - - box of chocolates – who knows what – to show up and get the quilt finished.

Either way, or another way, this may be the perfect time! And the perfect quilt.

You see, a couple of years ago, my friend, Ellen, wanted to make a quilt for her son who was leaving for college. At the time, she was a beginner quilter, looking for something she could make quick and easy.

As many of us, she had put this project off for months. Maybe she was hoping her son would change his mind about going away for college, or maybe she was just so wrapped up in getting everything ready for him to go, that she forgot how long it would take her to make a quilt.

Regardless, she was down to the wire, and needed a quilt in less than two weeks.  She discovered a pattern for a rag quilt in our local quilt shop, and excitedly scampered home only to find that the instructions were way too confusing, and she didn’t know where to start.

Always anxious to help a fellow quilter, I flew over like Wonder Woman to the rescue.  She had already started cutting and sewing, and much of what she had done was wrong - the instructions were so bad. We re-cut, ripped and re-sewed, and we finished her son’s quilt in less than a weekend. And she had plenty of time to get him organized and ready to leave for school.

That weekend, I realized that making a rag quilt was so easy that anyone who knew how to sew could make one – if they had complete step-by-step instructions. So I began writing the Rag Quilt in a Weekend! series of instructions for making rag quilts.

This series has sold like wildfire – guiding hundreds of quilters and non-quilters from start to finish through making a rag quilt.

A Red Hat Idea

The weekend after Ellen and I finished the rag quilt for her son, another friend and I went to a concert in a local park. We were relaxing and enjoying the fresh night air and lively music as a very festive group of ladies started gathering – first two, then two more, then one more.

The next thing we knew, there were 17 ladies – all wearing purple and donning beautiful and fancy Red Hats! What a fabulous time they had – dancing, laughing, eating snow cones (it was a hot summer night here) – enjoying the good times. Their frolic made our evening even more enjoyable.

And then I learned about the Red Hat Society – a wonderful group of ladies who are never too old to play dress-up and have tea parties. Their main responsibility is to have fun!

That inspired me to design a Red Hat Rag Quilt pattern, and now a DVD Mentor.

Because fun-loving quilters surely will consider making a red hat rag quilt a big adventure, easy to understand instructions for any non-quilters in the group are a “must.”

And the easiest to understand instructions are step-by-step delivered both on your TV and in a book.

So, Grab Your Popcorn, Sit Back, Relax and Prepare for a Red Hat Rag Quilt Weekend!

From start to finish - from fabric cutting to seam cutting, you get everything you need in Red Hat Rag Quilt in a Weekend! DVD Mentor:

  • Did you know that your rag quilt can be made from flannel, denim, cotton or cotton blends? Red Hat Rag Quilt in a Weekend! DVD Mentor divulges why polyester might not be the best choice for a rag quilt, and what type of fabric might be better. With complete knowledge, you decide what kind of fabric to use.

  • Sew your blocks together with the speed and efficiency of a professional tailor. This resource is jam-packed with tips and tricks to save you time sewing your blocks together. Did you know that one of the most frustrating parts of making a quilt is keeping the blocks in the right sewing order? Red Hat Rag Quilt in a Weekend! DVD Mentor lets you in on the secrets of keeping your blocks in the correct sewing order, and shows you how to speed piece – saving you precious time and energy.

  • Seams open or sewn to one side? That really is the question in making this quilt. For patchwork quilts, quilters generally agree it is best to fold seam allowances to one side. Is that true for rag quilts, too? Sometime “yes,” and sometimes “no.” Red Hat Rag Quilt in a Weekend! DVD Mentor shows you exactly what to do with the seam allowances, and explains why.

  • Binding or no binding? The simple answer is that this rag quilt requires no binding. You will discover the easy method for finishing the edges of this rag quilt to secure the inside layer and ensure that your quilt doesn’t “fringe away.” Plus you will see what to do when you accidentally cut through your seam. (It’s bound to happen. At least I have yet to make a rag quilt where I don’t cut through at least one seam. And – trust me – it’s not a disaster!)

  • Fringing and finishing – what makes fringe on a rag quilt, and how do you create the fringe without ruining your quilt? All of the techniques to create the fringe and finishing touches are right at your fingertips. Your finished quilt will age beautifully as it is loved and used, and will be just as together when you celebrate your 100 th birthday as it is the day you finish it.

Finished in a weekend doesn’t mean you need to get up at the crack of dawn, drink 57 cups of coffee to keep you going, eat as you sew, ignore the family, dog and cat, allow the dishes to stack up in the kitchen, stay up until the wee hours of the morning, rest for an hour or two, then get up and start again, hoping that by the end of the second day, you still have a few clean dishes in the cupboard, your family hasn’t left you, the cat and dog are still your friends, and your rag quilt is complete.

Red Hat Rag Quilt - Your Red Hat Friends will want to know where you got it!

Finished in a weekend means that you can easily complete this quilt – from cutting fabric to cutting seams (fringing your rag quilt), working only 4-5 hours from Friday to Sunday; maybe even less. Even if you have never made a quilt before.

And that includes watching the video either before you start cutting or all along the way.

You get speed and efficiency because you have all of the rag quilt instructions and guidance you need to zip right through making this quilt.

Just pop the DVD into your computer or TV, and watch the next step. Or, sit down with your bowl of popcorn or favorite beverage, and watch the whole video from start to finish. It’s the length of a short movie.

Once you’ve seen it, you’ll know exactly what to do, or where to go for a quick refresher.

If You Can Sew a Straight Stitch, You Can Make this Quilt!

A true beginner – even a non-quilter – can make this rag quilt. All of the sewing is simple and can be done on your home sewing machine. Even if you never thought about making a quilt, planned to make a quilt, or imagined that you could make a quilt, you can make this one!

Intermediate and advanced quilters will have fun making this quilt, too. The DVD reveals my tips, tricks and shortcuts for zipping right through making this fun quilt.

Regardless of your skill level, your finished quilt will look like it was made by an experienced quilter. Your family and friends will be amazed at your creativity and skill.

As a matter of fact, you could be the hero of your chapter with this resource. We know your chapter is always looking for something entertaining and Red Hat-themed to do.

Making This Quilt Could Be an Entire Weekend Experience -   Maybe Even a Retreat.

Picture this. Your best friends gathered in your favorite hideaway, sipping your choice of beverage and stitching happily on Red Hat rag quilts.

First, queue up the video so the non-quilters know what to do. Then start cutting and sewing. Make matching quilts, or each of you make one to suit your individual style.

Whichever you choose, by the end of the weekend, your Red Hat Rag quilts will be ready to cuddle up with or take to a pajama party!

And your friends who weren’t at there will beg you to have another retreat so they can make their Red Hat Rag Quilt.

Watching This Video, You Will See Everything You Need to Know

If you've ever looked at quilting videos, most of them are just the same as quilting books! A two minute clip here about how to cut fabric, another one minute clip about chain sewing. And, yet another one or two minute clip about binding a quilt.

But, you can't learn to make an entire quilt, just by looking at a video with short, disconnected clips - even if you watched it 6 times! Because, you still are missing the answer to the "what do I do next?" question.

Not with this video! We take all of the guesswork and mystery out to what to do next, and show you exactly what each and every step is - from start to finish, step-by-step.

And because it doesn’t take months to make this quilt, watching this video doesn’t take hours and days. As a matter of fact, it’s just a little over 1 hour long, barely time to finish your bowl of popcorn.

Talk about speed. In just a little over an hour, you can learn everything you need to know to make this fast and fun rag quilt.

I really loved your DVD, I have watched it through once and plan on going through it again. It is so nice to see things close up and get a clear explanation of the project.

Gayle Lenoe, Salem, New Hampshire

What I liked best about the DVD mentor is that you could WATCH Penny (over, and over, and over, sometimes..) and refer to the manual as needed. It has proven to be a great resource for me.

Liz Pilon, Cheboygan, Michigan

I thought that the Robins nest DVDs are a great help to someone like myself who has never quilted before. I especially like the way you describe everything in such detail, and all the close ups are just wonderful, I watched all the DVD's and thought that I can do this, well not quite, but I have made a small cot size for my best friend Tiny (dog) and it came out quit well with only one mistake.

Penny you have done a wonderful job on the DVD's and I would highly recommend for any would be quilter to have a look at the DVD's first. I have learnt a lot from them, without them I would not of started Quilting.

Thank you so much for all you input, and keep up your good work.

Kindest regards, Inge K., NSW, Australia

I have not had a chance to start a quilt yet but I did take the time to review the DVDs to see if I had made a good investment. After watching the DVDs I was eager and still am to start on a quilt by myself. I am new to quilting and have only may three with the help of the teacher working with me. The classes go rather faster and sometimes I am left with unanswered questions.

With the way the DVDs are done, I am taken through the whole process as if someone is standing beside me showing me exactly what to do and answer my questions before I even ask. Creating these disc was a wonderful idea especially for a person as myself and others new to the quilter world. It will also continue to be of value to me as my experience increase for review. Thank You for your help. I now have a renew spirit for quilting.

Patricia Little, Wilmington, North Carolina

What’s the cost to put Me on Your Quilting Team?

By now you may be wondering about the cost of this valuable resource.

Well, put it this way.

If you hired me to consult with you to cover all of the points on these DVDs and CDs, it would run in the neighborhood of 10-15 hours.  And at a rate of $40 per hour, that would set you back about $600 – and that doesn’t count travel or telephone expenses.  Plus at the end of that time, your head would be spinning, your notes would be flying, and you still wouldn't know exactly where to begin.

Or you could spend $40-$50 for some beginning rag quilting books. And you still woudn't have this Red Hat pattern, since it's an original - not sold anywhere else (legally, anyway!).

Remember, though, it’s taken me 27 years of making all different kinds of quilts, plus an investment of thousands of dollars to sort through all of the clutter of information and give you only the best.  And I know you want to get to the heart of making this Red Hat Rag Quilt and bypass all of that torture and unnecessary expense, especially if this is your first quilt, and maybe the only one you will ever make.

Possibly you have already made a bunch of quilts and think you have seen it all already.  Maybe, but if you are anything like I am, every time I pick up a quilting book or magazine, I learn something new from just one little article or picture.  Just imagine what you could learn from 41 pages of step-by-step quilting instruction and live quilting on DVD.

Every quilter has unique shortcuts and techniques that she has developed over time. The big difference is that I am happy to share mine! Not all quilters are. And because I am sewing exactly the way I sew when the camera is off, you get every inside tip and technique I have, exactly when you need it.

Isn’t your time worth something?

This DVD set covers practically the same thing you would get in a personal consultation for a mere fraction of the investment.

And, you can look back at each and every step of making this quilt whenever you want to and how ever many times you and your Red Hat friends need to – without feeling stupid or embarrassed for reviewing it a bizillion times.

Interview with Monika Gassaway, owner of La Mesa Sew and Vac

Monika was a guest in our Eavesdrop on a Telephone Conversation series last year, and before the call, she promised an honest conversation about buying sewing machines. No fluff, no kidding. And that is exactly what she delivered!

As a matter of fact, she was a little concerned about hurting someone's feelings by saying the wrong thing about a machine they may have purchased. I told her not to worry. I thought our quilting community was more interested in spending our sewing machine money wisely than in saving someone's hurt feelings.

During the call, Monika revealed secrets about who makes what sewing machine, who owns what sewing machine company, and how some dealers talk-up certain machines just so they can get the sale, and then leave you holding the bag.

Once you hear this Conversation, you will have the inside information you need to make a wise choice when you purchase your new machine. Plus you get to listen to the Conversation and read it, because included with your Bonus Reports is the transcript of the Conversation - word for word.

This alone is a $27.97 value. Quilters all over the internet ask for this information every day, and it’s yours free with your order of Red Hat Rag Quilt in a Weekend! DVD Mentor.

Everything You Need is Right Here

Red Hat Rag Quilt in a Weekend! DVD Mentor Basic – you get the 2 DVD set plus 2 CDs with the Guide and all of the fabulous Bonus Reports, plus the CD of the Interview with Sewing Machine Expert, Monika Gassaway for a tiny investment of $77.  $37.00

This is an amazing value when you figure that other 20 minute quilting DVDs are being sold for $19.95 each - and most of them are just videos showing tips about sewing quilts. This DVD set includes step-by-step, detailed instruction; 72 minutes of valuable quilting instruction. No wasting time, no useless information. Just the exact steps you need in order to make this Red Hat Rag Quilt in a Weekend!

You could easily purchase 10 DVDs in order to get all of the information stuffed into this DVD set. And at $19.95 apiece, that would set you back $199.50.

Because this is an original pattern that I designed myself, it's not like you could just go out and buy it. Nope, you'd need to design it yourself.

You could spend hours drafting the pattern on a grid or special paper. Then you would need to draw full size templates of the hat brim pieces, because they are not just half-square or quarter-square triangles. These are odd shapes and angles, specially designed to fit into the pattern and make the cute hat with the band. And what is your time and frustration worth? I remember spending hours drawing templates from graph paper, carefully cutting them, then cutting the fabric and sewing the pieces together - only to discover that they didn't fit right, and I had to start again.

Or, you could invest in a quilt design software program that would help you design the quilt and make the templates. EQ6 software sells for $149.95. And, although it's pretty easy to learn how to use, when I designed this quilt, it took hours to figure out how to draw the hat brim pieces so they fit together correctly when they were sewn together. But, then, probably you learn quicker than I - but in any case, it would cost you $149.95 just to create the pattern.

Plus you get the CD with the book (valued at $49.00).  Not to mention the value of all of the Bonus Reports and audio CDs - valued at $76.80.

great deal
