Discover How to Turn Your Scraps

Greetings Quilter -
After I had been quilting for a few years, I ran across a book about sewing blocks with curves.
I had looked at several quilts with curves and been intrigued with them, but decided that wasn't for me - it would be just too hard to get them to lay flat and look nice.
When I flipped through the pages of this book, though, the light when on, and I realized that with just the few techniques in this book, I might actually be successful in sewing a quilt with curves in it.
And sure enough, the first quilt I made that had some curved patches in it came out great!
Since then, curves don't scare me in the least.
But this is not really about curves, specifically. It's about the quilter who presented the techniques and gave me the inspiration to go ahead and try - Pepper Cory.
For all of those 20 years, I had defined Pepper as an expert in sewing curves and making Drunkard's Path quilts and their variations. So, when I first contacted her to see if she would join us for our Eavesdrop on a Telephone Conversation, I was amazed to see how varied her topics were. Guess I wasn't paying too much attention.
The thing is, Pepper has taught so many quilters various techniques for quilting, she knows how we think.
She knows that many of us haven't quite figured out how to plan a quilt - how to choose a block and then choose fabrics that will make the block look great.
We're not sure what to do when our blocks are all slightly different sizes.
And how do you find and decide on the quilting design that will make your quilt look really special?
And, one of the things I like most about Pepper is that she believes that quilters make up their own rules - it's ok to do something different from everyone else. And, if you are in a class with a teacher who tells you it has to be done a particular way, just say "Thanks for the input" and do it the way you want.
During the course of the past two years of our Eavesdrop on a Telephone Conversations, I have heard first hand (as have many of you) that many professional quilters have developed their own techniques and preferences for how to do things, so why not us?
And Pepper shared her passion for quilting, teaching quilting, and inspiring quilters with us during an Eavesdrop on a Telephone Conversation.
During our Conversation, Pepper gave us ideas about:

This was a fantastic call with tons of information.
I know that often when I'm on the phone, I get distracted with the cat, dog, or even another telephone call. Plus, sometimes even when I listen intently, I may not get every piece of information.
And, who knows, you might not be interested in making a scrap quilt today, but 8 months from now, it will be the perfect quilt. And with a CD recording of this call, you'll have the information right at your fingertips.
