Free Quilt Block Patterns for January 2009

"Every quilter has a masterpiece within."

Greetings Quilter -

What will your quilting year look like?

If you believe the main stream media, this is going to be a bleak year. We’ve seen them before. Yet, somehow they think this will be the worst in a long time – some are even saying it will be on a par with the Great Depression in the 30s.

While it’s true that retail sales were down and the housing market here keeps falling down, all of that news doesn’t need to affect your quilting year.

Looking back in history, quilting became popular in the US colonies because of lack of affordable fabric for blankets. Creative women looked at worn out clothes not just as worn out aprons, dresses and shirts, but as pieces of fabric to be rescued from the incinerator and used to keep family members warm throughout the winter, not just in one blazing fire for a few hours.

Instead of caving into the “bad economy” and becoming depressed, look around and create something beautiful.

This year babies will be born, couples will get married, anniversaries and birthdays will be celebrated, and every one of those occasions is perfect for a quilt. And who better to make one than you?

You may have worn out clothes that you can turn into quilts. Take a trip to a local thrift shop and help them by adding to your collection of fun fabric to be used in a quilt. Or sort through the fabric in your own stash for your next quilt project.

Using the resources we will continue to provide, your quilting can be easy, more fun, and bring joy to your circle of friends and family

Look to your quilting as a solace from the turmoil around town and around the world, and an area where you can create and share beauty with your friends and family, and let them know that you are a source of inspiration with your quilts.

I’m sure we all remember that tough times pass. I don’t know about you, but I want to be standing strong amid the rubble, so I can keep marching forward and not spend time picking up the pieces of my mess in order to enjoy the great times ahead!

Happy Quilting!

Quilt as You Go Project DVDs

Have you ever taken a long car trip, gone on a cruise, or had a bunch of appointments and wished that you had a portable quilting project?

Quilt as you go projects are really fun and easy, and your design can be anything you want it to be.

And they are perfectly named. Because these are projects that you work on one block at a time. You piece the block (either by hand or machine) and then quilt it - one block at a time.

Many quilters machine piece their blocks and then hand quilt them. Equally successful quilt as you go projects can be machine pieced and machine quilted.

And then you have a stack of blocks that simply get attached to each other to make a larger quilt.

And your quilt can be any size, too. Quilt as you go projects can be as small as a little 4 block wall hanging, or they can be a king size quilt.

Because there is so much interest in this topic, I decided that it would be a great topic for our December Eavesdrop on a Telephone Conversation. We have had 2 webinar presentations, and the interest keeps growing.

The webinar will repeat for one last time on January 4, beginning at 5pm Pacific Time, 6pm Mountain Time, 7pm Central Time and 8pm Eastern Time.

I am researching how to accomplish this presentation so it can be entirely on the internet, and save any long distance charges that might apply to the telephone portion of the presentation. I'll let you know how that goes.

In the meantime, register for the webinar or just order the DVD set - which started as a single DVD and is now 3, and the entire collection is the same investment as a CD recording for a single Eavesdrop on a Telephone Conversation.

Featured Block - Time and Tide

This starry 9 patch quilt block certainly presents its challenges in construction with all of the triangles, points, and bias seams. But, once complete, it is well worth the effort.

New Deal for Eavesdropping Quilters :

We now have a new special level of membership in TheQuiltingCoach.com for the Official Eavesdropping Quilters Club.

This level of membership gives you access to all of the same information Eavesdropping Quilters have gotten in the past – the Telephone Worksheet, the Transcript of each call and a copy of the CD recording delivered right to your snail mailbox.

Now, with membership in TheQuiltingCoach.com, in addition to the special notices of telephone calls, telephone worksheets and transcripts, you will get the full unedited recording of the call online. This is the from-start-to-finish call and includes all of the questions from quilters.

This recording is posted a few days after the call, so you can listen to it on your computer immediately and not have to wait until the CD recording comes in the mail.

Members will still get the CD in the mail just has before.

In addition, you will have access to everything in a special download area on TheQuiltingCoach.com.

That is where the transcripts and telephone worksheets are posted, and in addition, there are hundreds of quilt block patterns and step by step instructions for quilts and other projects.

Plus, there is a search engine on the site that makes it really easy to find things you are looking for.

I'm sure you will agree that this is a great deal - you are getting more information for the same price, and still getting the CD recording in your snail mailbox.

And, the first 30 days are free, so you can test it out.

Because I want you to see for yourself how good this is, by signing up for membership in TheQuiltingCoach.com at this new membership level during November, you get the first 30 days to give it a try on our nickel.

And, the current rate for membership in the Eavesdropping Quilters Club remains the same as it is right now - $24 per month. And you get the Telephone Worksheet, transcript of each of the calls, and the CD recording in the mail.

But this deal is only for a limited time.

After the first of the year, new members in the Official Eavesdropping Quilters Club will not get the first 30 days free and will be paying a higher rate.

And, once you sign up, the $24 rate will be yours as long as you remain a member. It can never be increased.

So, you'll want to take care of this soon, otherwise you will miss out on this deal, and end up paying more to get access to this information.

When the Official Eavesdropping Quilters Club began, the plan was to have one interview a month. Because there is so much information and so many quilters to interview, scheduling them has resulted in having 2 interviews for most months.

I love providing all of this information for you. But, as you can imagine, this means that the cost per month is double! And I have continued to maintain the cost to my loyal Official Eavesdropping Quilters the same low $24.

By joining TheQuiltingCoach.com as an Official Eavesdropping Quilter today, you will guarantee that same low $24 with all of the extra benefits of membership in TheQuiltingCoach.com.

Here is the special link to use for your Official Eavesdropping Quilters Club membership. Take care of this today, and you will be sure to hear every word Rosie says on November 19:
