How to Quilt>winnie the pooh day
Bears Paw Quilt Block
Happy Winnie the Pooh Day! Winnie is still one of my favorite characters - well, along with Mickey Mouse! Winnie the Pooh has such an endearing quality to him. When quilting daughter, Stephanie, and engineer son, Bubba were small, we added Winnie the Pooh to their boring metal trash can. I'm not sure whether they used the trash can more, but at least it looked kind of cute in their room. You'll see a picture of the Pooh character we made below. In keeping with the "bear" aspect of Winnie the Pooh, I thought I'd share a video today showing how to sew the Bear's Paw Quilt Block. This is one of those quilt blocks that has tons of different names, which you will hear in the video. When I made this block, I included a photo printed on fabric of m. mouse, the official How-to-Quilt.com kitty (since deceased). To make the picture large enough to see, the block is quite large. Whether you call it Cat’s Paw or Bear’s Paw Quilt Block, this is a relatively easy to make block, and quite popular with quilters. Many people think this block is difficult to sew together. It's really not even though there are a lot of patches. The key is to watch the bias edges on the triangles. They tend to stretch as you sew and cause the block to get out of shape. Enjoy!
